Putting My Experience
to Work
For more than 20 years, Steven Susens has worked in the practice of communications. He started his career as a White House and Congressional correspondent with States News Service and the Nashville Banner during the Clinton-Gore Administration and then served as a Congressional press secretary, a public relations executive and finally as a director of communications for a number of history changing events serving in Central and Southern Asia and the Middle East. The majority of Steve’s career has been overseas as the Senior Development Outreach and Communications Officer with the United States Agency for International Development in Afghanistan and Pakistan, as well as serving as a press officer in Iraq and Yemen.
Over the past decade, Mr. Susens has created and coordinated the largest trilateral trade and investment show in Afghanistan’s history with India and the United States, helped strengthen Afghanistan’s independent media through commercial initiatives, and raised the social media audience by more than 1,000 percent over a 12-month span for USAID/Pakistan. Steven's innovative and creative approach to promotion, marketing, media relations or crisis communications has earned him numerous awards. Steve’s experience in developing media and communications strategies helps shape public opinion, build brand awareness and meet any other communications goals for his clients.

USAID’s “The Bulletin” was created during the height of the pandemic in Pakistan to allow the Mission to promote its activities and its history with a television news format. The program has aired every Friday for more than 40 weeks.​
Steven created his own video podcast in 2018 called “ForeignPost” where he would bring on guests to talk about efforts in international humanitarian assistance and development. ​
